People think that it’s very easy for me to keep myself in shape because of my genes. I can’t help
but chuckle when I hear this particular observation because everything I’ve accomplished was from everything
but. My family tends to keep high level of fat cells due to the type of foods we eat and sedentary lifestyle. On top of being
on the heavier side, I was known to have chicken legs and my butt was practically non-existent ( friends can be cruel sometimes,
lol) . Growing up, we feasted on rice, fried foods and sweets as if they were
going out of style. Our free time was mostly spent on laying around the house
and watching TV all day.
When I turned
19, I decided I had to turn 180 on myself and made necessary changes. The journey was very challenging and I really had to
sacrifice a lot of things (including junk food, hah) in order to have a healthier lifestyle. My sister, Maryanne, had the
same concerns with her weight and when she decided to take control of her health, I was there to teach her things I learned
on my own.
